William "Bill" Joseph
Langley
Nov 26, 1954 — Sep 18, 2026
Winnsboro, Texas
William “Bill” Joseph Langley, 71, of Winnsboro, passed away at his home on September 18, 2026. He was born on November 26, 1954, in Brush, Colorado, to Joe Bruce Langley and Norma Jean Walker.
Bill played percussion in the band during college. He had a lifelong devotion to the Sooners and remained one of their biggest fans. His love for percussion also continued throughout his life. He was a talented drummer who played with many local country bands over the years. Bill was also an excellent cook. As his wife put it, he wasn’t a chef, but he could have been one!
Before an accident in the mid-1990s changed his life forever, Bill was very strong and enjoyed playing softball. He faced the challenges that followed with resilience and an unfailingly positive attitude. Given a new lease on life, he turned much of his focus and passion toward the craft of building custom fishing rods.
Fishing was one of Bill’s greatest loves. He worked as a guide on Lake Fork for many years, competed in fishing tournaments, and was sponsored by well-known names in the fishing industry, including Bass Cat. He also owned his own custom rod company for many years before selling it and designed countless unique, one-of-a-kind fishing rods throughout his career.
Bill married Kristie on May 3, 2004, in Las Vegas, Nevada. In 2006, they moved from Emory to Winnsboro, where he was a member of Cartwright Baptist Church.
Bill was a simple man whose life centered around the things he loved most: fishing, drumming, the Oklahoma Sooners, and the people close to him. He will be remembered for his resilience, his talent, and the positive attitude he carried throughout his life.
Bill is preceded in death by his father, Joe Bruce Langley; mother, Norma Jean Babst; and two sisters, Sandra Langley and Suzanne Baker.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Kristie Langley of Winnsboro; children, Alisa Litzenberg, Ashley Lopez (Andy), Breck Moore, Blair Hinton (Jade Dafron), and David Moore(Cinthia Lemus); one sister, Sherri Tolman; 15 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends, and his beloved Husky, Ranger, who slept under Bill’s bed for 12 years.
A memorial service for Bill will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, October 24, 2026 at the SRA’s Caney Point Boat Ramp & Rec Area on Lake Fork.
