Walter Tom "W.T." Hunter

Walter Tom "W.T." Hunter, 97, of Quitman, entered Heaven's gates Thursday morning, March 15, 2018.

W.T. was born in Quitman December 18, 1920 to Kennie and Pet Jessie (Session) Hunter. He lived all of his life in the Quitman area and grew up in the Muddy Creek community. He served his country proudly in the US Army Air Force during World War II. On December 23, 1945 in Como, TX, he married Lorine White and to this union three children were born. He was a farmer and dairy man and also worked for Cain's Hardware for 14 years.

W.T. was a member of New Life Baptist Fellowship Church in Quitman where he was also a deacon. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and fishing.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Kennie and Pet Jessie Hunter; and his brother, Raibon Hunter.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 72 years, Lorine Hunter of Quitman; and children, Brenda Hunter of Quitman, Walter Hunter Jr. and wife Rita of Kingsville, Kennith Hunter and wife Daphne of Athens, and Johnny Hunter of San Deigo, CA; grandchildren are Pamela Lampkin, Kevin Coleman, Sterling Hunter, Alauna Hunter, Brittany Green and Keylan Hunter. Also Tracy, Ty, Teresa, Tony and Tonya. He also leaves seven great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

Funeral service for W.T. Hunter is scheduled for 11:00 AM Monday, March 19, 2018 at New Life Baptist Fellowship Church with Rev. Charles Brewster officiating and eulogy by Rev. Jerry Dennis. He will be laid to rest at Muddy Creek Cemetery following the service.

The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 PM Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Lowe Funeral Home.

Serving as pallbearers is Bruce Fannin, Cliff Cain, Kenneth White, Paul Harper, Perry Montgomery, and Carlis Brinkley.

W.T. Hunter was a great man and a great friend. I wish I could be able to come to the services but my wife and I haved moved in the Houston area.
