Virginia Turney

Memorial services for Virginia Rae Coppedge Turney, 76, of Yantis are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Saturday April 3rd at the First United Methodist Church in Quitman, where she was a long time member.      Mrs. Turney died Saturday, March 27, 2021, at her home on Lake Fork surrounded by her children.  She was born November 24, 1944, at her grandmother’s home in Marion County, TX.  She graduated from Gladewater High School as the Historian of the class of 1962.     In 1963, she married the love of her life, Joseph Glenn Turney.  They were married for 43 years until his death in 2007.     Mrs. Turney was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt.  She worked as a chemical technician at Dow Chemical Company in Freeport, Tx.     She is survived by one son, Christopher Glenn Turney and his wife of The Woodlands, two daughters Tracy Anne Mitchell, of Austin, and Jamie Rae Turney of Winnsboro, one niece Sharon Leigh Taylor of Gladewater, five grandchildren, Holden Keith Mitchell, Jessica Rose Turney, Anne Marie Turney, Elias Gregory Turney, and Chloe Rae Rule, two great nieces Catherine Scarlett Taylor, and Rachel Elizabeth Taylor.     In lieu of flowers please make donations to East Texas Food Bank.
