Scot Alan
Oellerich
March 13, 1958 – April 2, 2026
Scot Oellerich, 68, of Quitman, Texas, passed away on April 2, 2026, at his home.
Scot was born on March 13, 1958, in Dodgeville, Wisconsin, to Herman and Carol (Butson) Oellerich. He was raised in Mineral Point, Wisconsin. He spent more than 25 years operating a hobby farm in rural Wisconsin before moving to east Texas.
An avid sports enthusiast, Scot followed many teams, but none more passionately than the Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers. Fishing was one of Scot’s greatest joys and every spring would say “The spawn is on and I am gone” before taking his annual fishing trip to Lake Fork, Texas, widely known as one of the premier fishing destinations in the country. Scot enjoyed the Lake Fork area so much he moved there in 2005.
Throughout his life, Scot earned a reputation as a skilled handyman, capable of tackling nearly any project with confidence and precision. Scot was always ready to lend a hand to any friend, family, and strangers that were in need.
Scot loved all animals, especially his two cats that he leaves behind, Oreo and Cally.
He was preceded in death by his father, Herman Oellerich, and the love of his life, Anita Tanner.
Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Carol Schroeder (Butson); his son, Michael (Kristin) Oellerich; his daughter, Lindsay (Paul) Taber; his siblings, Mary (Rich) Milz, James (Debbie) Oellerich, Steve (Karen) Oellerich, and Jay (Betty) Oellerich; and his grandchildren, Mason, Stella, Jayda, and Eliza Oellerich.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Wisconsin. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Friends of Noah Animal Rescue in Janesville, Wisconsin, and The Catty Shack Cat Rescue in Ben Wheeler, Texas, both of which are assisting with the re-homing of his beloved felines. Scot had great respect and admiration for our country’s veterans, especially his good friend John “Gunny” Boone, so donations can also be made to your local Disabled American Veterans organization.
