Sandra O'Dowd

Sandra Marie O’Dowd of Mineola passed away Thursday evening, July 29, 2021, at the age of 79.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Sally Mestaz; and brother, Jimmy Mestaz.

Left to cherish her memory are her four children, Tiffany Derryberry and husband James E. Derryberry of Quitman, Shannon Gonzalez of Corona, CA, Terrence O’Dowd and wife Bridgette of San Luis Obispo, CA, and Brian O’Dowd and wife Sue of Placentia, CA; one brother, Joe Mestaz of Three Rivers, CA; sisters in law, Bertha Mestaz of Three Rivers, CA, and Linda Mestaz of Laughlin, NV; 10 grandchildren, Garret, Grant, Gavin, and Alexandra Derryberry, Shelby and Dominic O’Dowd, Andrew, Audrey, and Andrea Gonzalez, and Sofia O’Dowd; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

Sandra Marie O’Dowd was born in Los Angeles on May 19, 1942 to Jose Cordero and Maria Celida Mestaz. She worked as a legal secretary for Beckham Pharmaceutical. In 2014 she moved from Corona, California to Wood County.

Sandra was always the life of the party. She loved to dance and listen to Mexican music and loved to celebrate. Every day was a celebration, as Sandra was always smiling. She never once complained about anything. She was a Christian and enjoyed going to church with her daughter.

Funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 AM Monday, August 2, 2021 at the Lowe-Gardner Funeral Chapel. Graveside service will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Mineola. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Sunday evening at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers are Garrett Derryberry, Grant Derryberry, Gavin Derryberry, Brian O’Dowd, Dominic O’Dowd, Cesar Gonzalez, James Derryberry, and Terrence O’Dowd.
