Ruth Elizabeth McAllister

Funeral services for Ruth Elizabeth McAllister, 93, of Bridgeport, formerly of Quitman, are scheduled for 1 PM Tuesday February 23, 2016 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel in Quitman with Revs. Matt Edwards and David Kelly officiating. Burial with follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Mineola under direction of Lowe Funeral Home Quitman. Mrs. McAllister died February 19, 2016 in Bridgeport.

Elizabeth was born September 3, 1922 in Tallapoosa, GA to Manco Henry Jackson and Bessie Vanora Waldrep Jackson. She was married to George McAllister, Jr. on May 16, 1947.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband George and three brothers.

Survivors include her daughter, Janice Gilliland and her husband Joe of Paradise, sister Joan Avery of Richland Hills, 5 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 6 great, great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbears will be Scott McAllister, Bobby Jackson, Johnny Jackson, Michael Barnett, Jimmy Thompson and W.D. Jackson. Honorary pallbearers will be James Huffman, Doyle Few, Glynn Reed and Vann Wakefield.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Monday evening at Lowe Funeral Home in Quitman.
