Rose Marie Savage Valek was born December 28,1932 in Wood County to Fred and Mary Stedry. She stepped into eternity on December 14, 2025 surrounded by family at her home in Kaufman County. Rose married John William Savage on July 20, 1954. After John’s passing in August of 1986, Rose found love again, marrying the late Victor Lewis Valek in November of 1991.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents and all of her 7 brothers and sisters, Johnny, Alice, Constance, Libby, Christine, Albena and Robert. Also a great granddaughter, Kacelynn Dave’ Roberts in February of 2017.
Left behind to cherish her memories are her son; William John Savage and wife Amy of Fort Worth, grandchildren Austin Savage; Tate Savage and wife Alicia; Alexandra Jensen and husband David; Alison Cook and husband Kyle. Great-grandchildren Avery Grace, Paxton, Maverick, Wilder, Emma, Josiah, Madison, Titus, Ainsley and Camden.
Son David Savage and wife Glenda of Pittsburg; grandchildren Dusty Savage, Sunny Hutchings and husband Jeff; bonus granddaughter Robbi Bishop; Great-grandchildren Konner and Camden
Daughter Belva Collinsworth and husband Jim of Kemp, grandchildren Landon Roberts and wife Catherine; Lance Roberts and wife Samantha. Great-grandchildren Jaxson and Summer.
And many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Rose was known for her love of family. She was a superior homemaker and loved to share a meal with all who came to her home and you never left hungry!
She loved children and worked in the nursery at First Baptist Church of Quitman. Rose also kept children in her home.
She was proud of her Czech heritage and loved a good Polka and traditional foods. Victor and Rose shared their Czech heritage and traveled to Czech Republic and Europe twice where they met many distant relatives and helped build a Christian church in the community.
Rose brightened every room that she entered with her positive attitude. She said of each day that “Every day is a blessing”. You rarely found Rose without a smile on her face or encouraging words for whomever she encountered.
Rose was a member of the Becker Methodist Church, Becker Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Becker Methodist Church, PO. Box 92, Kemp, TX 75143 to support its missionary at Liberty Church & school in Bohol, Philippines.
Funeral Service for Rose is scheduled for Friday, December 19, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at Sands Springs Baptist Church in Mineola, Texas. Visitation will be Thursday, December 18, 2025 from 5:15 - 7:30 P.M. at Lowe-Gardner Funeral Home.
