Roger Wayne Quist, known to many as “Red,” of Winnsboro, Texas, passed away on April 7, 2026. He was born September 10, 1953, in Spencer, Iowa, to Earl and Colleen (Faulkner) Quist.
Roger grew up alongside his brother Bill, his sister Nancy, and his cousins Tammy (Faulkner) Nighswonger and Jerry Faulkner. He graduated from Spencer High School in 1971.
He proudly served 16 years in the United States Navy, including during the Gulf War, traveling the world throughout his service. His time in the Navy took him to places such as the Philippines, Bahrain, and Guam. After his military service, Roger worked for a communications company before becoming a long-haul truck driver, retiring in 2015.
Roger is survived by his daughters Richelle Hicks and husband Bruce of Houston, Cheryl Halverson and husband Casey of Cape May, New Jersey, and Rosemary Riojas and husband Jody of Quitman, Texas; his former spouse, Belen; and his cherished grandchildren Kalen Hicks, Ineke Hicks, Colby Riojas, Reagan Riojas, Rhett Riojas, and Piper Halverson.
He was preceded in death by his father Earl; his mother Colleen (Quist) Smith; his brother Bill; his sister Nancy; his stepfather Meryl Smith; and his grandparents Golda and Gerald Faulkner, and Lawrence and Etta Quist.
