Rita Hernandez Flippo, 74, passed away on July 28, 2021, at her home in Quitman, Texas with her husband by her side.
Rita was born September 24, 1946, in Houston, Texas to parents Ignacio and Cruz Hernandez. She was the youngest of 10 children. She attended Jefferson Davis High School in Houston, Texas and after that she worked at Western Electric and Texas Instruments. She married the love of her life, Michael on September 6,1988. They lived in Mesquite, Texas for many years before moving to Quitman, Texas and lived here for the last 7 months. Rita was a wonderful baker and cook and she loved to shop. She also loved to read the bible and was a very spiritual woman. Rita loved spending time with her family and watching mystery movies.
She is preceded by her parents and 8 siblings
Rita is survived by her husband of 33 years, Michael Scott Flippo; 4 children: Martin Richard Hernandez of Mesquite, Texas, Michael Ray Hernandez and wife Lehua of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, Rita Linn Schaefer and husband Jake of Sachse, Texas, Steven Lane Amacker of Austin, Texas, sister Lena Anderson; grandchildren: Jennah Armada-Doseo, Erik Overton Gordy, Isabella Jolie and Houston Isaac Schaefer, Cruz Amelia and Caspian Jan Amacker; great grandchildren: Darian Jacob, Averie Sophia, and Peyton Snow Armada-Egloria; and several nieces and nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.
Funeral Services for Rita will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at 10 am at the Lowe-Gardner Funeral Chapel in Quitman, Texas.
