Richard Morton Weaver Sr., 84, of Quitman, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2026.
Richard was born on May 2, 1942, in Atascosa County, Texas, to James Franklin Weaver and Mary Ella (Talbert) Weaver. He previously resided in Tarrant County and had been a resident of Wood County for the past three and a half years.
Richard worked as a carpenter, mechanic and fixer of many things. He enjoyed fishing in the pond, riding ATVs, and playing dominoes. Above all else, Richard cherished his role as “Granddad” and treasured the time he spent with his grandchildren and family.
He was preceded in death by his beloved spouse, Velma Ruth Weaver; his parents, James Franklin and Mary Ella Weaver; five sisters; and two children, Susan Renee Weaver and Triscella Gayle Weaver.
Richard is survived by his children, Richard Morton Weaver Jr. and wife, Verita, Jimmie Ruth Horton, Donna Smith and Natalie Denson; brother, James Franklin Weaver Sr.; brother-in-law, Philip Horton; 6 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss him dearly.
Richard will be remembered for his hardworking nature, his love of the outdoors, his enjoyment of simple pleasures, and most of all, the love he shared with his family. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
A Memorial Service will be held in Richard’s honor at 1:00 PM, September 19, 2026, at White Settlement Sanctuary of Praise in Ft. Worth, Tx (8341 Wyatt Dr., Ft. Worth TX, 76108) with another to follow at a family members home on September 26, 2026, in Leesburg, TX at 548 County Road 3514, Leesburg, TX 75451.
