Peggye Jean Sessions Reeves

Peggye Jean Sessions Reeves was born on July 9, 1937 in Quitman, Texas to A.G. and Avis McGee Sessions. She was the youngest sibling of two brothers.

Peggye united with Muddy Creek Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and served as church treasurer for nearly 20 years and a member of the choir.

Peggye graduated from Quitman Colored High School and graduated from Butler College where she earned a Bachelor of Science and was a cheerleader. She also earned a Master’s in Education from Prairie View A&M University. She began her teaching career in the Wilmer-Hutchins School District and later taught in the Dallas Independent School District where she retired after 33 years.

Peggye enjoyed shopping and gardening. She loved fashion, perfume, jewelry, getting her manicures and pedicures. We will miss her wise, witty, encouraging, humorous, intellectual and loving spirit.

Peggye married Joefel Henderson in 1960 but later divorced. In January 20,1968 she married Gene Anthony Reeves to this union one son Tony was born.

She is preceded in death by her parents A.G. and Avis Sessions and her brother Wayland F. Sessions.

She leaves to mourn and cherish her memories one son, Tony LaShun Reeves of Quitman; three grand children Kendalyn-Aaliyah Reeves of Tyler, Tahirah Latrice Reeves of Fort Worth and Tony LaShun Reeves II of Mansfield; one brother A.G. Sessions Jr. of Quitman and a special daughter-in-law Tonya LaShelle Reeves of Mansfield and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Viewing for the public is Friday October 16, 2020 from 12 noon until 5 p.m. at Lowe Funeral Home Quitman, Texas and Saturday October 17, 2020 from 10 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Muddy Creek Baptist Church, Quitman Texas.
