Cowan
Jul 24, 1955 — Jun 25, 2026
Patsy Gene (Gregory) Cowan, 70, of Sulphur Springs, Texas, passed away on June 25, 2026, in Cooper, Texas.
Born on July 24, 1955, in Greenville, Texas, Patsy was the daughter of Howell Gregory and Patricia Sergeant Gregory. Throughout her life, Patsy embodied a spirit of service, compassion, and generosity that touched countless lives.
Patsy proudly served her country in the United States Air Force and was a veteran of the Vietnam War era. Following her military service, she continued her lifelong commitment to helping others by pursuing higher education and earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work. Her career and volunteer efforts reflected her deep belief that serving others was one of life's greatest callings.
Whether helping veterans, supporting those struggling with weight loss, feeding families in need, or caring for loved ones, Patsy was always willing to lend a hand. She maintained a faithful presence at TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly), encouraging and assisting others on their journeys. She devoted countless hours to Veterans Services, helping fellow veterans navigate challenges and access resources. Patsy was instrumental in fundraising efforts that helped make the Veterans Memorial Wall in Sulphur Springs a reality, ensuring that the sacrifices of local veterans would be remembered and honored for generations to come.
Her heart for service extended into the community through her work with local food banks, where she delivered food to individuals and families facing hardship. At home, she lovingly cared for her disabled brother, offering him not only assistance but also unwavering devotion and support. Patsy never sought recognition for her kindness; she simply saw a need and did what she could to help.
Those who knew Patsy will remember her as a woman whose life was defined by giving. She freely shared her time, her talents, and her love, leaving a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy is one of selflessness, compassion, and service to others.
Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, Howell Gregory and Patricia Sergeant Gregory.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Shauna Holloway of Cooper and Cambra Funderburk of Sulphur Springs; her brother, Eugene Gregory; her grandchildren, Alexis Jacobs, Christopher Holloway, Dalton Clover, Erin Clover, and Rian Myles; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Though her passing leaves a tremendous void, the countless lives she touched through her kindness and generosity stand as a lasting testament to a life well lived and a heart devoted to helping others.
Graveside Services for Patsy will be held at 11:00AM, August 1, 2026 at McWright Cemetery.
