Patricia Shipp, known as “Meme” to her family, passed away Friday evening, June 11, 2021 at the age of 71.
Patricia Dianne (Davis) Shipp was born in Baytown,Texas on November 18, 1949, to the late Elmer Davis Sr. and Zelma Bernice (Rhodes) Davis. She worked for Colgate-Palmolive in Texarkana for 13 years assembling serving equipment. On December 17, 1966, she married the love of her life, James Shipp. The couple lived in many different states before settling in Golden in early 2000's. For many years, Patricia worked in the nursery at First Baptist Church in Quitman and was supervisor of the Harvest Acres Baptist Church nursery. She enjoyed working with children and the elderly.
Patricia was an avid fisherwoman. She loved to fish in farmed ponds, or anywhere she could drop a line in. Patricia was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and devoted wife. She loved her great grandsons, Tater and Junie, dearly.
She greets in Heaven her mother and father, Zelma Bernice and Elmer Davis Sr.; her mother and father-in-law, Thomas and Marie Shipp; a brother, Charles Eugene Davis; and sister-in-law, Margaret Burks.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 53 years, James Shipp of Golden; two children, Thomas Dewayne Shipp and wife Bonita of Paris, and Dianna K. Shipp of Texarkana; three grandchildren, Tiffany Renee Shipp of Dallas, Daniel Thomas Shipp and wife Stormy of Mineola, and Hunter Lane Carver and wife Kaitlyn of Bay St. Louis, Mississippi; two great grandchildren, Landen James Shipp and Demariyea Deshun Williams Jr.; one great grandson on the way, Grayson Wayne Carver; one brother, Elmer Davis Jr. and wife Etta of Dekalb, and Vicki Gail Nall and husband Nathan of Wake Village; and many extended family and friends.
Memorial service for Patricia is scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday, June 19, 2021 at Harvest Acres Baptist Church with Brother David Burcham officiating.
