Burial
With deep love and reverence, the family of Pansy Ruth Clopton shares that she entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on March 22, 2026, at the age of 82. While her passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of those who loved her, there is comfort in knowing she has been called home, reunited with her loved ones in glory, and welcomed into the eternal peace she so faithfully believed in.
Pansy was born on July 9, 1943, to Aaron “Booster” and Lillie “Maxine” Gilbreath. She was the only daughter and the eldest of three children. Pansy graduated from Yantis High School in 1961. She married her devoted husband, James Robert “Bob” Clopton, on November 23, 1968. Together, they were blessed with two sons, Kevin and Kell, who were the pride and joy of their lives. Pansy and Bob were deeply committed parents, faithfully showing up for every milestone and moment, no matter the distance. Over the years, their journey took them through several Texas towns before ultimately settling into retirement in Yantis, Texas. They were faithful members of First Baptist Church of Yantis.
Pansy was employed by the Texas Department of Health and Human Services, advancing through various positions throughout her tenure, ultimately retiring as a quality control specialist for the Food Stamp Program. She was considered a mentor to fellow colleagues, upholding the values of compassion and integrity. Following retirement, she embraced her most cherished role as “Nene” to her adored grandchildren, Bryce, Braiden, Addison, Averie, and Andi Clopton, and great-grandchild, Presley Clopton. She was incredibly grateful to be part of their lives, supporting them and celebrating every accomplishment, no matter the distance. Whether cheering them on at events or caring for them in everyday moments, Nene’s love never wavered. She often expressed her devotion in simple, meaningful ways - through cherished traditions like making homemade pickles and baking her strawberry and chocolate cakes for those she held dear. Her love for family was evident in all that she did, and she will be greatly missed by those who knew her best.
Pansy was preceded in death by her parents, Booster and Maxine Gilbreath, as well as her husband of 57 years, Bob Clopton, and beloved son, Kell Clopton. She is survived by her devoted son and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Leigh Clopton of Gunter, Texas, and Faith Clopton of Kaufman, Texas, along with grandchildren, Bryce Clopton (wife, Abby, and daughter, Presley) of Van Alstyne, Texas, Braiden Clopton of Fort Worth, Texas, and Addison, Averie, and Andi Clopton of Kaufman, Texas. Pansy is also survived by two brothers, Keith Gilbreath (wife, Sharon) of Yantis, Texas, and Tony Gilbreath (wife, Kathy) of Quitman, Texas. Additionally, she leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, church family, and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Services to honor Pansy will be held on March 26, 2026, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Yantis, 100 Church St, Yantis, Texas. The family will welcome visitors one hour before the service, beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Rock Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the youth ministry at First Baptist Church of Yantis, P.O. Box 207, Yantis, TX 75497.
