Norma Jean Canaday Beech, 84, of Quitman, Texas, passed away peacefully in her home and ascended into her heavenly home on January 7, 2026. Norma was born in Sulphur Springs, Texas to Imogene and Curtis Canaday on July 21, 1941. Together they made their home in the Yantis community, until at the age of six years, Norma and her family moved to Quitman, Texas where she attended school until High School graduation.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving and devoted son, Shannon Beech of Quitman. Norma is also survived by two stepsons, Billy Beech of Quitman and George Beech of Oregon. She was blessed by God in having five grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Also left to cherish her memory is Norma’s sister, Diane Canaday Blackwell, also of Quitman.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents; brother Jimmy Canaday; grandson Michael Beech; and the love of her life Bill Beech. Norma and Bill shared forty-five wonderful years of marriage, traveling and committing themselves to their children and grandchildren. Together, Norma and Bill instilled in their children the importance of a strong work ethic and service to others while building a firm foundation in God’s word.
Serving God and sharing the Good News of His love and salvation played a major role in Norma’s life and focus. She taught Sunday School and participated in numerous prayer and study groups. Norma also enjoyed in sharing the Gospel of Jesus with local nursing home patients engaging them in song and praise. She witnessed boldly to anyone she perceived as needing to hear about Jesus. Perhaps Norma’s greatest service was her gift of intercessory prayer. She diligently prayed for all those she encountered who needed prayer. Covering her family in prayer was a daily commitment that Norma met each day. Her prayers, love, and presence will be forever missed. Although we grieve our tremendous loss, her family takes great comfort and joy in knowing that Norma had reached her heavenly home rejoicing in her Lord and with family members and friends.
The family wishes to thank the Aspen Hospice team of Quitman who so lovingly and patiently cared for Norma during her last days on earth.
Funeral services for Norma Beech will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 12, 2026 at Beaty Funeral Home (Mineola) under the direction of Lowe-Gardner Funerals & Cremations. Graveside service will follow at Yantis Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 AM.
