IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Nicolaza Amelia
Ramos
January 4, 1979 – February 4, 2026
Nicolaza Amelia Ramos, 47, passed away at her home in Quitman, Texas, on February 4, 2026. She was born in Huntsville, Texas, on January 4, 1979, to Joe Ramos and Cathy Pursely Taylor. Nicolaza lived in Huntsville until 2000, when she moved to Quitman, where she made her home.
Nicolaza worked as a Certified Nurse Assistant for several years, but one of her favorite jobs was serving as a correctional officer with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. She shared a close bond with her mother, Cathy, and her stepfather, Donald, and lived with them for much of her life.
She devoted as much time as possible to her nieces and nephews and treasured those relationships deeply. Nicolaza enjoyed card games, board games, and playing games on her phone. She was a fan of Star Trek and loved watching other science fiction movies and television shows. When she wasn’t working or spending time with family, she could often be found listening to music.
She was preceded in death by her father, Joe Ramos; her stepfather, Donald Taylor; her grandparents on both sides of the family; her aunt, Marla Pursely; and her nephew, Taylor Calk.
Those left to cherish her memory include her mother, Cathy Taylor of Quitman, Texas; her brothers, Jack Calk of Pflugerville, Texas, and T.J. Ramos of Midland, Texas; her aunt, Linda Ramey Campbell and husband Pete of Madisonville, Texas; and many nieces, nephews, great-nephews, cousins, and friends.
