Nelda Womer

Nelda Womer, 81, of Quitman, passed away Friday morning, April 30, 2021. She is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Zula Hackett; 10 siblings; and husband, Jerry Clarence Womer. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Alex Wasarhelyi of Florida, Terri Milligan of Texarkana, Arkansas, Cherie Mezzell of Quitman, and Sheila McPherson and husband James of Lindale; 9 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, extended family, and special friends in Wake Village. Nelda Maudine (Hackett) Womer was born  June 28, 1939 to Carl and Zula (Jones) Hackett.  She was born and raised in Texarkana, Texas, and resided there most of her life.  Nelda worked as the manager for Holsum Bakery and retired after 21 years. In 2006 she moved to Quitman.  She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-great grandmother, and will be missed dearly by her family. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. The family will hold a private family memorial at a later date.
