Millie Jo Grider

Memorial service for Millie Grider, 86, of Quitman, is scheduled for 10:30 AM Saturday, October 20, 2018 at First United Methodist Church of Quitman with Rev. Keefe Cropper officiating.

Millie Jo Grider was born August 3, 1932 in Okay, Oklahoma to David H. and Alice Margaret (Bowlin) Wortham. She was a Quitman resident since 1966, moving from Lindale. She worked as the executive secretary for Tyler Pipe, and retired after 34 years.

Millie was a member of First United Methodist Church and would frequently volunteer at the church and at ETMC. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing games such as bridge, dominoes, and Mahjongg.

Millie went to be with the Lord Friday morning, October 12, 2018.

She is preceded in death by her parents, David H. and Alice Margaret Wortham; husband, Carl Bailey; daughter, Jo Gail Pittman; and her two brothers, Howard Wortham and David Wortham.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, Ricky Bailey of Quitman; step daughters, Mae Pellerzi of Quitman, and Eve Rizzo of California; sister, Jean Bawden of Huntsville; five grandchildren, Chris Pittman and wife Laura, Stacey Pittman and wife Claudia, Richard Bailey, Alaina Emmert and husband Weston, and Garrett Pellerzi and wife Lindsay; great grandchildren, Emma, Cooper, Angeles, Gavin, Raina, Cash, Lila, and Emma; good friends, Dorsay Ivy of Frisco and Dell Cox of Mineola; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and many friends.

Millie’s wish was for donations to be made to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund in lieu of flowers.
