IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mikel Leslie
Cain
March 19, 1976 – November 20, 2025
Celebration of Life
Summit Heights Fellowship
Starts at 11:00 am (Central time)
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at Summit Heights Fellowship in Hawkins.
Mikel Leslie Cain, 49, passed away on November 20, 2025, in Quitman, Texas. He was born on March 19, 1976, in Big Lake, Texas, to Jimmy Cain and Sherry Nutt.
Mikel will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He had a passion for life and a heart full of loyalty and love. Mikel enjoyed talking and watching football at every level, and he had a lifelong love for motorcycles. He rarely missed a race—whether it was street racing, dirt track events, or NASCAR. Camping with family brought him peace, and he proudly held a special interest in collecting Hot Wheels.
Above all, the greatest loves of his life were his fiancée, Courtney Griffith, and his daughters. Mikel and Courtney shared a life together for more than ten years, and he cherished every moment with their family. He spent time driving trucks, though the time away from home was difficult—except when his favorite co-pilot, Lexi, was by his side. Handy and talented, Mikel was a true jack-of-all-trades.
Mikel was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Cain.
Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Sherry Nutt; fiancée, Courtney Griffith; daughters, Lexi Maree Johnson, Peighton Lee Pugh, and Myleigh Rae Pugh; brothers, Kerry Cain and Heath Nutt; sister, Mia Cain; niece, Shelby Rose Nutt; nephews, Caden Cain and Ezra Cain; his stepmothers, Dawn Cain and Mary Cain; and many beloved friends.
Mikel will be remembered for his big heart, his devotion to family, and the joy he found in the things he loved. His presence will be missed, but his memory will be carried forward by all who knew him.
Psalm 23
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the
paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: for thou art with me;
thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:
thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
