Michael was born November 17, 1947 in Oklahoma City, OK to the late James Louis and Dorothy Ruth Middleton French and passed away September 9, 2015 in Tyler. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. Michael is preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Jackie Marshall and James Bryan French.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 43 years Nell French, Quitman; 2 sons, Michael French and wife Misti, Quitman; David French and wife Summer, Mineola; 2 daughters, Carrie Manning and husband Treg, Haslett, TX and Chrispen Tave and husband Tavian, Quitman; 1 brother, Don French and wife Elaine, Sanger, TX; 1 sister Kathryn Burns and husband John, Pittsburg, TX; 8 grandchldren, numerous nieces, nephews and exended family.
