Funeral services for Max Turner, 80, of Quitman, are scheduled for 3:00 PM Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Lowe Funeral Home with Brother Fred Morrow officiating. Graveside will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service.
Max Moreland Turner was born at home on December 30, 1938 in Pine Mills, Texas to the late Homer and Maurice (Wagoner) Turner. On June 1, 1959 he married the love of his life, Gailya Cornelius. He and Gay were married 55 years at the time of her passing in April 2015. Max and Gay moved from Dallas to Quitman in 1970, where he built their forever home.
Max was retired for 30 years from Peoples Telephone Cooperative, where he was a Purchasing Agent. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and served as a deacon and song leader.
Max is preceded in death by his loving wife, Gailya Ann âGayâ Turner; and his parents, Homer and Maurice Turner.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Misti Nichols of Quitman, Mindi Turner of Winnsboro, and Michael Turner of Quitman; five grandchildren, Christopher Turner, Brooke Daniel, Carson Turner, Colby Nichols, and Lacey Turner; three great grandchildren, Weston and Caroline Daniel and Elijah Turner; loving and devoted caregiver and friend, Sherrie Cowart; and extended family and friends.
Serving as pallbearers are Colby Nichols, Carson Turner, Tanner Daniel, Christopher Turner, Rodney Aldridge, and Rod Hashaway.
