The two moved to Quitman from Tyler in 1977, where Mary worked at the Tax Office for 15 years. She was also a member of Lake Fork Baptist Church.
Mary loved to sew. Often she made quilts, her own clothes, and her childrenâs clothes, even making their prom and wedding dresses. She loved to sew for the community as well, sometimes making cheer skirts.
Mary passed away August 23, 2018 in Quitman, just five days before her 78th birthday.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Jesse Lee and Ina Pearl McKay; brother, Roy McKay; and sister, Adeline Johnson.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 51 years, Robert Kirbo of Quitman; two daughters, Michelle Bowers and husband Andy of Quitman, and Becky Watson and husband Billy of Quitman; one sister, Kathy Jordan and husband Michael of Winnsboro; her granddogs, Katie, Lucy, and Shandi; and several nieces and nephews.
