Mary Ann
Hulshouser
Sep 11, 1937 — Jun 17, 2026
Mary Ann Hulshouser, 88, of Quitman, passed away on June 17, 2026.
Mary was born on September 11, 1937, in Sweetwater, Texas, to John and Linda (Scurlock) Buckbee. She married the love of her life, Lee Roy Hulshouser, on January 26, 1956, in Durant, Oklahoma. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and love.
Mary and Lee Roy spent many years living in Canton before making Wood County their home. Mary devoted her life to caring for her family as a homemaker and housewife, finding her greatest joy in being surrounded by her family. Known affectionately as "Mimi," she treasured every moment spent with her children and grandchildren and took great pride in watching her family grow through the years.
Mary especially enjoyed visiting her sister, Joy, and cherished the time they spent together. She loved shopping and never passed up a chance for a little chocolate.
Her faith was the foundation of who she was. Mary loved Jesus deeply and enjoyed participating in Thursday Bible studies at the nursing home. With her warm personality and friendly spirit, she became the social butterfly at Quitman Wellness and Rehabilitation.
Mary's greatest loves were her Savior, her husband, her children, her grandchildren, and her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Roy Hulshouser; her parents, John and Linda Buckbee; niece, Janice Philpott; and five siblings, John “Sonny” Buckbee, Joe Buckbee, Don “Pee Wee” Buckbee, Tommy Buckbee, and Faye Cosgrove.
Her legacy will carry on through her children, Gary Hulshouser and wife Jan of Quitman, Beth Hailey and husband Bill of Quitman, and Keith Hulshouser of Shreveport, LA; sister, Joy Jewell of Quitman; six grandchildren, Richard Hulshouser, Ryan Hailey, Zach Hulshouser, Lyndsey Hailey, Lauren Hulshouser, and Kristen Ross; seven great-grandchildren, Andrea, Jordan, Kacey, Kinsley, Bingham, James, and Bennett; her great-grand-dogs, Thor and Jackson; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Funeral service for Mary will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at Lowe-Gardner Funerals & Cremations with Chaplain James Spurgeon officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, starting at 11:00 AM.
A reception will be held at Lowe-Gardner following the service, before departing for the cemetery. The graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM at Haven of Memories Memorial Park in Canton, where she will be laid to rest next to the love of her life, Lee Roy Hulshouser.
Serving as pallbearers are her grandchildren, Richard, Ryan, Zach, Lyndsey, Lauren, and Kristen.
