Marshall O'Dell Gilbreath, affectionately known as Mo, passed away on September 3, 2023, at the age of 95. Mo was born on June 1, 1928, to Silas Amos and Annie Lee (Meredith) Gilbreath in the Clover Hill Community.

A patriot at heart, Mo dutifully served his country in both the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1947 and later re-enlisted in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1956. His unwavering dedication to his nation and the principles it stood for was evident in his time in the military.

Although Mo spent most of his life in Quitman, he temporarily resided in Dallas for a few years, where he worked for the Dallas Police Department. His commitment to serving and protecting others was exemplified during his time with the Wood County Sheriff's Office, where he dedicated several years of his life before beginning his career as a custodian for Quitman ISD. Mo poured his heart into ensuring a clean and safe environment for generations of students before retiring.

Mo's strong ties to his community extended beyond his professional career. He was a member of the Yantis Masonic Lodge #382, embodying the values of brotherhood and charity. Additionally, he was a faithful member of Rock Hill Baptist Church.

Outside of his professional life, Mo enjoyed the simple pleasures that brought him joy. He loved spending time in nature while squirrel hunting. At home, he could often be found relaxing in his favorite chair.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Silas Amos Gilbreath and Annie Lee Gilbreath.

Mo is survived by many extended family members and friends.
