Marlene Gore

April 14, 1939 — July 24, 2020

Marlene Gore

On Friday, July 24, 2020, Marlene Gore, dedicated wife, mother, and child of God left this earth for a glad reunion day.  Preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Hubert, son, Gary, her parents, Carl and Florence Essl, brother, Carl Ray Essl and sister Wilma Dean Oswalt.

She is survived by her daughters, Pam, Tammy and her husband John; as well as, her loving grandchildren Luke, wife Ashley, Blake, Christopher, Megan, Amanda, husband Aaron, Jamie and her Husband Travis and Zach. Robert Essl is her only surviving brother. She loved each of her nieces and nephews and enjoyed family get-togethers. She has so many great grandchildren that you could not enter one room in her house and not find pictures of each of them proudly displayed.

She was born in Winnsboro, TX on April 14, 1939. She was baptized in 1954 at Coldwater Baptist Church.  Marlene married Hubert Gore at Little Hope Missionary Baptist Church on June 22, 1957. She worked at Wood County Electric Company and retired in July 2000.  She was an active member in recent years of Faith Baptist Church in Quitman, Texas and Central Baptist Church in Tyler, Texas.

Hubert and Marlene were high school sweethearts.  He knew from the beginning they were going to be married, Marlene said “No.” She told him she was not sure she should marry the first boy she ever really dated. With that said, Hubert moved to Dallas, got a job, and waited for her to make up her mind. When she graduated from high school, he came back and asked her again.  She knew then that he was the one God had chosen for her to marry, and so, their story began.

On the evening of Friday, July, 24, Hubert’s wait, was over,  we are confident of the loving embrace as he began to  show her around heaven, and,  reunite her with her only son, and other family members.  She would want to greet her Savior in the presence of people she loved. Join us in rejoicing in the peace of knowing that they are all together!  She kept this verse on her wedding picture in her house:  “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”  Isaiah 41:10

She had a “passion” for people and family gatherings.  She made visiting, sending cards and calling people who were unable to get out themselves her personal ministry.  She would regularly check in on family members, friends, and people in nursing homes to let them know she loved and cared for them.  She made each person feel they were important to her like they are to God. She retired from Wood County Electric Cooperative where she spent most of her career helping people.

Due to military constraints and the family’s desire to be together during this time, services are still pending, until her grandsons return from active deployment. There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date which will be open to friends and family.  Her last wishes were that people get together and talk about the fun, cherished and happy moments of their time while she was in our lives. She will be laid to rest next to the love of her life at Little Hope Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
