Margaret Sue Muterspaugh, known as Sue, passed away on July 11, 2025. She was born April 14, 1950, in Sulphur Springs to Albert Lee Clifton and Hellon Christine Huling.
Sue called Pine Mills home for over 25 years. She had a deep love for her animals and took great pride in caring for her land. Whether it was spending time on the porch with friends, listening to music, or dancing and hosting parties at the Tatershed, Sue brought a unique mix of seriousness and fun to every moment. Sue also enjoyed listening to David and his friends perform. Sue worked at Southwest Regional Trans-America as the Vice President of Sales and Leasing.
She was a loyal friend, known for her big heart, quick wit, and love of good company. A lifelong lover of dogs and the simple joys in life, Sue leaves behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, and genuine connection.
Though she held her faith quietly, it was a part of her steady and grounded nature.
She is preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, Christine Huling Bass and Lowell Bass; father, Albert Lee Clifton; two brothers, Michael Clifton and Albert Clifton; and two spouses, David Mitchell and Keith Muterspaugh.
Left to cherish her memory is her son, David Mitchell and wife Nicola of Pine Mills; three siblings, James West, Barbara West Hunter, and Jack West and wife Linda; her dogs, Scruffy and Biscuit; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, and countless friends.
Funeral service for Sue is scheduled for 11:00 AM Saturday, July 19, 2025 at Lowe-Gardner Funerals and Cremations. Graveside service will follow at Concord Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday evening, July 18th, at the funeral home.
Flowers are appreciated, but if so desired, donations in memory of Sue may be made to the APET SPCA in Mineola.
