Lou Ann Center

Lou Ann Center passed away in Mineola, Texas on Sunday, October 26, 2025. She was in the home she loved with family.

She enjoyed activities with her family that included gardening, cooking (especially Lou’s famous apple pie!) oil painting and travel. Going to the beach was a favorite destination.

She was a skilled basketball player in her youth. She enjoyed sharing the story that her high school team, the Spencer Bobcats, made it all the way to the State Playoffs in 1960.

She was retired from the U. S. Postal Service.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Roger G. Center; her brother, Bernard Burkhart; and her parents, Florence Barlow Burkhart and George David Burkhart.

Surviving relatives include her daughter, Pamela Center; three grandsons, AJ Lyons, JR Lyons and Spencer Lyons; her great-granddaughter, Brooklynn Lyons; and her two nieces, Roxanne Burkhart Adams and Susan Burkhart Hulstine.

She once said, “All I ever wanted to be was a wife and a mother.” …and she knocked that out of the park.
