Lola Fay Baker, age 96, born July 31, 1930, in Waxahachie, Texas, passed peacefully in the early morning of April 23, 2026. Born a twin, she shared a bond with her brother, Elbert Ray Roberts—a bond she carried with her even after his passing many years ago. Lola Fay lived a long and meaningful life filled with love, faith, and devotion to her family.

She married her high school sweetheart, Curtis Baker, on January 1, 1949, and together they built a long, loving, and full life. Before starting her family, Lola Faye worked as a dental assistant until becoming pregnant with her first son, Timothy. She and Curtis were blessed with two sons, Timothy Baker and Daniel Baker. Together, they operated The Farmers Co-op in Quitman for many years, working side by side before retiring to enjoy their greatest joy—being grandparents and great-grandparents.

Lola Fay was a deeply loving and faithful Christian woman who would do anything for her family, especially her grandchildren. Her love was steady and unconditional. She was the kind of person who made everyone feel at home. No one ever left her house hungry, and her door was always open to those she loved. She showed up for her family in every way—through meals, laughter, prayers, and quiet acts of care that meant more than words could say.

She had a special way of caring for the little details—rarely without her lipstick, her nails neatly painted, and Kleenex always close by. She had a love for arts and crafts and found joy in sharing her creations, crafts, and special trinkets with those she loved. She also had a fondness for keeping things, surrounding herself with meaningful keepsakes and cherished knick knacks that each held a memory.

She was a devoted member of Cartwright Baptist Church and attended faithfully until she was no longer able. She could always be found at Sunday and Wednesday night services, as well as any other time the church doors were open. Her church family meant so much to her, and she found great joy in worship and fellowship.

Lola Fay is preceded in death by her parents, Lola Belle Jeffrey and James Elbert Roberts; her siblings, Sydney, Preston, TJ, Elbert Ray, Lynn Voy, Courtney, Madille Vaughn, and Dottie Roberts; her sons, Timothy and Daniel Baker; daughter-in-law Bobbie Baker; her grandson, Wesley Baker; and her great-granddaughter, Ally Baker.

She is survived by her daughter in law Cindy Baker, granddaughters, Cristi Blalock and Patty Whipple; her grandson, Shaun Baker; her great-granddaughters, Kaylin Goldsmith, Kinlee Baker, Abby Taylor, Alex Taylor and Layni Baker; her great-grandsons, Camdon King, Jettson Blalock and Grayson Baker; and her great-great-granddaughter, Riggin Goldsmith.

Lola Fay’s life was rooted in her strong faith, and she carried that faith with her through every season. One of the verses that reflects her strength and trust in God is Deuteronomy 3:22: “Ye shall not fear the: for the Lord your God he shall fight for you.”

Lola Fay’s legacy is one of love, faith, and family. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew her.

Services for Lola Fay will be held at 1:00PM Monday, May 4, 2026, at Quitman City Cemetery with Pastor Cody Mize Officiating.
