Litavee C. Mitchell

Litavee C. Mitchell, 88, passed away at home in Grants, NM and went to be with the Lord and the love of her life, Joe Bill Mitchell on October 24, 2019.  She was born March 4, 1931 in Cheyenne, OK. and moved with her family to Rock Hill, TX as a young girl.

Having decided, “I don’t want to be a cotton picker for the rest of my life,” she moved to Dallas, TX immediately after high school graduation where she landed her first and only job with Southwestern Bell Telephone, with whom she retired after 38 years, at age 55 in Feb. 1986.  She got to enjoy many years of traveling and spent as much time as possible at the lake house she and her husband had built at Lake Quitman.

She leaves behind and will be missed by two step children, Ted Mitchell and wife Vonda of Irving, TX and Laurie Klein of Grapevine, TX.  Eight grandchildren, Scot, Randi, Jennifer, Nicholas, Jonathan, Kelley, Kim, Keri and four great grandchildren, Kayla, Cody, Rhiannon and Cameron and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by and looking forward to her reunion with her parents H. Bruce Halbert and Opal E. (Lewis) Halbert, her husband Joe Bill Mitchell, two stepdaughters, Sandy Patterson and Frances Riddle and her 3 sisters, Lea Milner, Tommie Shepherd and Lawanna Keeth.

A Graveside Service under the direction of Lowe Funeral Home will be held at the Rock Hill Cemetery, Quitman, TX. On November 2, 2019 at 11:00 PM with Bro. Fred Morrow officiating.
