Leslie Johnson

Leslie Regina Johnson, of Hughes Springs, Texas, passed away on July 12, 2023, at her home.

Leslie was born on March 5, 1950, in Raymondville, Texas to Lester Thomas Craft and Juanita New.  She attended Berwick High School in Louisiana and later college in Ada, Oklahoma. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority where she loved her sisters dearly. Leslie owned the Cappuccino and Sweet shop in Greenville, TX, where she was affectionately known as the "hat lady". She loved all of her customers and could not wait to serve them. For more than 10 years, Leslie helped her husband Mike travelling and adjusting for insurance. Leslie married in Garland, Texas in July of 1998 and lived in Greenville for 20 years until she moved to Hughes Springs in 2020 to enjoy the green solitude of nature in her “happy place”.

Leslie is survived by her husband, Michael Dean Johnson of Hughes Springs, TX, and son Christopher Craft of Dallas, TX.

Leslie was preceded in death by her parents, Lester Thomas Craft and Juanita New, and brother Eric Craft.

Family and friends are invited to honor Leslie at a graveside service to be held on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at 10:00AM at Shady Grove Cemetery with Brother Fred Morrow officiating.  Pallbearers are Michael Johnson, Christopher Craft, Mark Ayers, Floyd Fowler, Clayton Johnson and Christopher Johnson, with honorary pallbearer Locke Lynch. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, from 6:00 - 8:00PM at Lowe-Gardner Funerals & Cremations.
