Lela Irene Strickland

Funeral service for Irene Strickland, 79, of Mineola, is scheduled for 2:00 PM Thursday, October 4, 2018 at Hubbard Chapel Baptist Church with Pastor Jerry Phelps officiating. Graveside service will follow at Concord Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Wednesday evening at Lowe Funeral Home.

Lela Irene Strickland was born in Collin County on October 9, 1938 to Buford T. and Dora Ellen (Morgan) Blasingame. She was a seamstress for Hager Slacks and a homemaker. In 1996 she moved from McKinney to Mineola. She attended Hubbard Chapel Baptist Church. Irene was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and wife, and will be dearly missed by her family.

Irene passed away Monday morning, October 1, 2018 in Tyler.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband, CL Strickland of Mineola; two sons, Wilton Strickland and wife Tami of Hawkins, and Jeffery Strickland of Mineola; two daughters, Anita Wylie and husband Jim of Mineola, and Sandy Cabe of Winnsboro; brother, Larry Landers of Princeton; sister, Dorthea Mills of Chambersville; fourteen grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and many extended family members and friends.

Serving as pallbearers are her grandsons, Kevin Strickland, Brandon Brown, Kyle Strickland, Justin Strickland, Clayton Pasteka, and Cody Strickland.

I have loved you mama rene for 26 short years. You have always been the rock for this family. You will be missed so much by me. Rest in peace till I see you again keep dancing in heaven show them your moves. Best mother in love I've ever had. Know one could hold a candle to you.

She never met a stranger, and you were always welcome at her home. She loved her family more than anything and would give and do anything in the world for them. She was just as beautiful inside and out. She will be missed by everyone who knew her!
