Laverna Cason Mainord

Laverna Cason Mainord, 97, of Rains County, passed away Monday, March 12, 2018.

Laverna was born February 12, 1921 in Rains County to Ben and Duron (Houston) Cason.

Laverna attended Rains County schools and graduated from Emory High School. After World War II she was baptized in a pool at Shady Grove Baptist Church east of Greenville.

She worked at Texas Instruments as a Quality Control Supervisor for 18 years. After retiring she moved to Royce City to be closer to her family. She lived there until 2007 when she moved to Quitman.

Laverna loved her flowers and loved gardening. She also loved sewing, and made all of her dresses and shirts in her younger years.

Family was everything to Laverna. Her kids and grandkids were her whole life and she had an unconditional love for her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Duron Cason; brother, James L. Cason; sister, Vernell Freeze; son in law, Wayne Ingram; and daughter in law, Sandy Mainord.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, Dan Mainord and wife Barbara of Nampa, Idaho; daughters, Annette Ingram of Emory and Yvonne Mainord of Royce City; sister, Peggy Eldridge of Mesquite; and her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 AM Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Lake Fork Baptist Church with Kenneth and Ann Cason officiating.
