Larry David Coventry

Larry Coventry, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, went to be with the Lord Friday afternoon, November 26, 2021, at the age of 80.

Larry David Coventry, better known as “Cov”, was born in Duncan, Oklahoma on September 5, 1941 and was adopted by the late Frank and Inez Coventry. He was one of 8 siblings. Larry graduated high school from Sunset High School in 1959, and later attended and graduated from North Texas State University with a bachelor’s degree in Business and Accounting. He laid bricks while in college to help pay for his tuition and later worked at Lincoln Properties in Dallas. In 1974 he made the move from Dallas to Holly Lake Ranch, where he was the Controller for nearly 10 years. It was at his home in Holly Lake Ranch, where he married the love of his life, Regina.

In 1982 Larry and Regina established their accounting practice on the square in Quitman, where he was a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Financial Planner. Soon after opening the practice, they moved to Quitman. Larry enjoyed visiting with and getting to know each of his clients, and always loved learning where each person came from.

Larry loved to work on his lawn, play tennis, and was the biggest Aggie fan. He also enjoyed traveling, reading, and watching the Dallas Cowboys play. He was a Christian and met frequently with a small group at the Quitman Public Library.

Larry has been reunited with his parents, Frank and Inez Coventry; two sisters, Patsy Thomas and Barbara Marsh; and one brother, Gene Armistead.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of nearly 47 years, Regina Coventry of Quitman; four sons, Jeff Coventry and wife Debra of Arkadelphia, AR, Brian Coventry and wife Jenny of Lindale, Ryan Coventry of Quitman, and Zac Coventry and wife Katie of Harlingen; four siblings, Shirley Newby, Mary Sue Butler, Donna Morton, and Jim Coventry; five grandchildren, Sam, Kelsey, Ava, Kezia, and Phineas; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and many friends.

Funeral service for Larry Coventry is scheduled for 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at Lowe-Gardner Funerals & Cremations with Brother Fred Morrow officiating. He will be laid to rest following the service at Shady Grove Cemetery in Winnsboro. Visitation is scheduled for 6:00 – 8:00 PM Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers are Randy Carroll Jr., Quenton Coventry, Todd Lewallen, Bruce Swann, Terry Swann, and Randy Carroll Sr.

Honorary pallbearers are Dave Corrior, Orval Lindsey, Del Barcus, Robert Sweitzer, Dr. Bob Patton, Bob Williams, Frank Harris, Johnny Ziegler, Jerry Swann, and Greg Wreyford.

We are absolutely heartbroken for Regina and her family for the loss of Larry. He is a wonderful man and will be deeply missed. He was kind, considerate, caring and loving and full of intrgity. I can't say enough good things about him. Heaven's gain is certainly a great loss for all of us who are still here on earth. It has been an honor to know this fine man.
