Kathryn “Kathy” Inez Caldwell, 84, of Winnsboro, passed away on October 8, 2026. She was born on September 22, 1942, in Dallas, Texas. Kathy was one of eleven children born to Herschel Marical and Frankie (Perry) Marical.

Kathy had been a resident of Winnsboro for the past 42 years and was a member of Cartwright Baptist Church. In July 1983, she married Kenneth Wayne Caldwell, and the two shared over 41 years of marriage before his passing in 2025. Kathy devoted much of her life to being a homemaker, but over the years she also worked as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) and ran a supper club in Kilgore.

Kathy had a love for life and enjoyed making the most of every day. She took pride in keeping her home and yard looking their best and always enjoyed a good shopping trip or the excitement of getting a new car or going to the casino. She also loved riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles and traveling, always ready for another adventure. Whether she was working around the house, spending time outdoors, or heading somewhere new, Kathy found happiness in the things she loved.

Above all else, family was the center of Kathy's world. She looked forward to family reunions and treasured every opportunity to spend time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, who affectionately knew her as “Nanny” or “Ding-Ding.” No matter what else was going on in her life, her family always came first. Kathy loved life, loved her family, and made the most of the time she had with those she loved.

Kathy is preceded in death by her parents, Herschel and Frankie Marical; husband, Kenneth Wayne Caldwell; great grandson, Brax Poole; grandson, Jeff Granberry; three brothers, Alvie Marical, Glen Marical, and Charles Marical; sister, Glenda Dacus; and two stepsons, Benny Caldwell and Joe Caldwell.

She is survived by her children, Greg Granberry and wife Kellie of Mountain City, TX, and Kim Smith and husband Ray of Winnsboro; stepchildren, Deana Alexander and husband Dwayne of Winnsboro and Kenny Caldwell of Winnsboro; six siblings, Johnny Marical and wife Judy, Cleve Marical and wife Janice, Ginger Purky, Mary Jo Houston, Charline Rohus and husband Jimmy, and Dolly Apostolo; grandchildren, Jon Granberry and wife Gerynn, Kenny Whitehead and wife Laci, Nikki Whitehead, Brandon Caldwell, Shae, Ratchell, Lacy, Ashley, and several other grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

A memorial visitation for Kathy will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2026 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Lowe-Gardner Funerals and Cremations.
