Karen J. Allen

Karen Allen, 62, of the Quitman area, passed away August 17, 2016 in Greenville. She was born February 18, 1954 in Shelton, Connecticut to Ralph and Jane (Allen) Wehry. She lived in the Quitman area for over 40 years and enjoyed taking care of her daughter Katie, watching movies, and shopping. Karen loved the holidays, especially Christmas. Decorating for the holiday's was a passion of hers. She was a generous person making sure everyone in her life was taken care of at Christmas time. Karen would go out of her way to help someone in need, including buying groceries or help with their bills. No small feat for someone with very little means. Karen was also an animal lover. She cared for many cats and dogs through the years. There was rarely a time she did not have multiple cats and dogs in her care. They were very special to her and will now be cared for by Karen’s family.

She is preceded in death by her father.

Survivors include her mother, Jane Wehry of Yantis; son, Danny Lee Jones of Alvarado; two daughters, Kristy Olvera and Katie Allen, both of Quinlan; two sisters, Janet Tow of Tyler and Susan Hurley of Yantis; and five grandchildren.

Private memorial service for Karen will be held at a later date.
