Judy Elaine (Rogers) Newman, 81, of Quitman, passed away on November 4, 2026, in Winnsboro. She was born on September 5, 1945, in Wood County, Texas, to James Haskell Rogers and Jessie Estelle (Hyde) Rogers.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 9, 2026, at the Rock Hill Cemetery Pavilion with Brother Cody Mize officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Jeff Rogers, Tommy Rogers, Terry Rogers, Ronnie Rogers, Bill LaRue, Bill Alexander: and Honorary Pallbearers will be Jimmy Rogers and Blake Rogers.
A lifelong resident of the area, Judy spent many years working as a bookkeeper for J.D. Pratt at Pratt Meat Packing Company, and later she worked at Sulphur Springs Floral, and then retired from DairyLand Ford Tractor Dealership in Sulphur Springs. She was of the Baptist faith and attended Rock Hill Baptist Church for many years. More recently, she attended County Line Baptist Church until its closing.
Judy loved to read and enjoyed books of many kinds, but her Bible held a special place in her life. Its well-worn pages and the many notes she made throughout reflected her dedication to studying Scripture. She also enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and other crafts. Above all, she treasured time with her family, especially gatherings and the many camping trips they shared throughout Northeast Texas.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews, along with many great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews, all of whom she adored.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth Alford Newman; her son, Jeron McQueen; and her brothers, Jerry Tom Rogers and James Rogers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Rock Hill Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 1365, Quitman, TX 75783.
