Joyce Marie Vancil, 85, of Mineola passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 22, 2023. She was born in Merkel, Texas on March, 15, 1938 to parents Vera Marguerite and Thomas Watson. Joyce graduated from high school in 1956. On August 16, 1957, she married Reynol Vancil, her high school sweetheart. The couple had been married for 62 years at the time of her husband’s passing. Joyce and her husband lived in Seattle Washington for a brief period of time before moving to Dallas Texas. In 1969 they started to raise their family with their first daughter, Erin Renee and in 1970 Jason McKay followed. In 1979 Joyce and Reynol opened a Sir Speedy printing franchise in Richardson, Texas. They were very successful in the business for almost 20 years. In 1998 they retired and moved to East Texas on Lake Holbrook. Joyce loved to garden and was a member of the Iris Garden Club. She also served terms as President, Vice President and Treasurer of the Lake Holbrook Homeowners Association. Her greatest love came when her granddaughter, Maya Grave Covington was born in 2007. 

She is preceded by her husband Reynol Vancil of 62 years; parents Vera and Thomas Watson; and 7 Siblings.

She is survived by her daughter Erin Covington of Dallas and son Jason Vancil of Mineola; granddaughter Maya Covington; and several nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly. 

The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation and and gratitude to the entire staff at Autumn Wind Assisted Living in Mineola, and Harbor Hospice for the loving care Joyce received.

A private memorial will be held.
