Johnny Calvin Henderson

Johnny Calvin Henderson, 66, of Mineola passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2023.

Johnny was born on April 2, 1957, in Englewood, New Jersey to parents Billy and Margaret Henderson. He was a lifelong resident of Quitman and graduated from Quitman High School in 1975. He was a firefighter for the Tyler Fire Department for 20 years before he started his career in construction at  TXDOT as a Bridge and Road inspector.

As a true outdoorsman, he loved to hunt and fish.  In the woods with his son Corey was when he was the happiest and they spent time there as often as possible. He was a member of the NRA, Winnsboro Gun Club and Grassy Lake Duck Club.  Johnny was also a master craftsman in wood working. He could build anything.

He is preceded in death by his parents Billy Eugene and Margaret Ann Walsh Henderson.

He is survived by his son Corey Henderson of Tyler; brother Billy Henderson of Lubbock, Texas; sister Shirley Henderson of Tyler; nephews, nieces , Uncle Danny and Aunt Nancy Henderson of Quitman and many friends who will miss him dearly.

Memorial services for Mr. Henderson will be 6:30PM Thursday, May 11 at Lowe-Gardner Funerals & Cremations Quitman, Texas.  Pastor J.N. Metcalf will be officiating the service.  Family will receive friends from 5:30PM-6:30PM for visitation.
