Lajuana Midkiff

Johnnie Lajuana Midkiff, 89, of Yantis, Texas passed away on October 2, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Mansfield, Louisiana on February 9, 1936 to the late J. P. Ferguson and Bertha Henderson Ferguson.

Lajuana was an avid mahjong player gathering with friends to play at least three times a week. Her love for the Dallas Cowboys never wavered but she did get very upset any time her Cowboys lost. She showed her support of the Cowboys through thick and thin with a blue Dallas Cowboy Star on the back window of her SUV. She and her husband, Harold “Tex” Midkiff built a home on Lake Fork over 20 years ago. Both loved to put a lure in the lake and fished tournaments together under the TEAMIDKIFF brand. She and her husband enjoyed experiencing life with their neighbors and they kept a constant watch over her after her husband passed away in October of 2022.

Lajuana was proceeded in death by her parents, husband, and her son, Paul Eugene Sizemore.

Survivors include sister, Kaye McNees and her husband Croppy McNees of Quinlan, Texas. Two step sons, Chris Midkiff of Dallas, Texas and Aaron Midkiff of Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Nephews, Terry Webb of Quinlan, Texas, Jimmy Adams of Pearland, Texas, Randal Midkiff of Lufkin, Texas, Mike Midkiff of Quitman, Texas, John Adams of Centerville, Texas, and nieces Jaye Midkiff Hansen of Plano, Texas, and Robin Midkiff Zangarine of Spring, Texas. Sister-in-law, Joan Midkiff Milam of Quitman, Texas.

The family wishes to express its gratitude to her neighbors around the Midkiff Bass Ranch, Wesley House Assisted Living of Quitman and Reflections Hospice of Quitman for being present for her as her health declined.

There are no formal services scheduled at this time.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude, Memphis, TN, 38105.
