Joe Dwayne Batchelor, age 59, of Quitman, passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2022. Although Joe has left his Earthly home, his legacy will continue in the lives he helped save through the gift of organ donation.
Joe was born on October 9, 1962 in Minden, Louisiana to Joe Knighton Batchelor and Margaret (Conner) Batchelor. When Joe was 20, he decided to join the military. He served his country proudly in the United States Air Force and was a Jet Engine Mechanic. On March 16, 1984 he married the love of his life, Theresa.
In 2019, Joe and Theresa moved from Coppell, TX to Quitman. He worked for many years in the Information Technology industry and was very passionate about computers. In addition to marrying Theresa, Joe's most treasured memories were becoming a father and grandfather. Family meant more to Joe than anything else in the world. He was a strong, kind, loving, and supportive father and husband. He adored being "Poppy", loved to teach his daughter how to work on cars, enjoyed traveling, and always loved a good bowl of banana pudding.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 38 years, Theresa Batchelor of Quitman; two children, Alicia Anne Batchelor of Frisco, and Christopher Alan Batchelor and wife Kristin of Wylie; his parents, Joe and Margaret Batchelor; one brother, James Knighton Batchelor of Porter; three grandchildren, Liam Younger, Declan Batchelor, and Kahlan Batchelor; in laws, Marty and Dean Da Silva of Quitman; sister-in-law, Claire Mansfield and husband James of Richmond, VA; two brothers-in-law, Tom Wilker and wife Kim of Katy, and Greg Wilker and wife Jeani of Ocala, FL; his loyal toy poodle, Willow; and many nieces, extended family members, and friends.
Funeral service for Joe Batchelor is scheduled for 3:00 PM Saturday, August 13, 2022 at Lowe-Gardner Funerals and Cremations with Pastor Tim Nall officiating. Visitation will be held for two hours prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in memory of Joe to the American Heart Association.
