Jo Nell Gilbreath was born February 2, 1932 in the Cana Community near Quitman, Texas and departed this life June 1st 2025. She was the daughter of the late Joe H. and Jennie White Gilbreath.
She was married to Wayne Gilbreath of Quitman on May 26, 1951 at the Junius Heights Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas.
Jo was a devout Christian who held memberships at Junius Baptist, East Grand Baptist, and most notably Rock Hill Baptist Church where she had been a member since 1988. She was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone Co (now AT&T) in Dallas for 37 years. She retired in 1987 and moved back home to Quitman with Wayne where they remained for the rest of their lives.
Jo was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Gilbreath; son, David Wayne Gilbreath; great grandson, Connor David McCaslin; her parents, Joe H. and Jennie White Gilbreath; three brothers, Etchel, Albert, and J.H. Gilbreath; and five sisters Aline Ballard, Elyse Waldon, Alamae Ingram, Dorrace Brady, and Betty B. Gilbreath.
She is survived by three granddaughters, Rachel McCaslin (Colin) of Sunnyvale, Katherine Jones (Justin) of Mesquite, and Rebecca Gilbreath of Forney; Daughter-in-Law, Donna Gilbreath of Sunnyvale; as well as two Great Grandsons, Noah and Bennett McCaslin of Sunnyvale; Great Granddaughter, Charlotte Jones of Mesquite; and her Sister-in-law, Vada Gilbreath of Yantis. She was also blessed with many nieces and nephews.
Her family will remember their Gran and Aunt Jo for her love of the Lord, her kind and compassionate spirit, and her ability to always give the right advice in times of sorrow.
Funeral service for Jo Nell Gilbreath will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, June 6, 2025 at Lowe-Gardner Funerals & Cremations. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM. Graveside services will follow at Rock Hill Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are Brandon Stribling, Kevin Gilbreath, Tanner Gilbreath, David Milliken, Jason Waldon, and Brian White.
Honorary pallbearers are Sterling Newcomb, Dee Gilbreath, Lee Gilbreath, Ricky Gilbreath, Glen Gilbreath, Terry Bevill, Michael Anderson, Scott Gilbreath, and Benn Gilbreath.
