Jerry Len Brown, 80, of Quitman, Texas, passed away on April 10, 2025, in Sulphur Springs, Texas.

Born on October 19, 1944, in Dallas, Texas, Jerry was the son of Leonard and Edna Brown. After graduating high school, where he proudly wore jersey #65 and deeply cherished his football team and classmates, he pursued college courses before answering the call to serve his country. Jerry proudly served in the United States Army from January 1966 to December 1968 as a medic. During his service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a qualified marksman and took great pride in his military service.

Following his time in the Army, Jerry worked for Xerox before becoming self-employed. He built a career in copier resales and maintenance, working as a trusted field technician. He was known for his strong work ethic, mechanical knowledge, and the relationships he built through his business.

Jerry was a resident of Quitman for over 50 years, deeply rooted in the community he loved. On December 29, 2016, he married the love of his life, Veneche, in Arlington, Texas. Together, they shared a deep and devoted bond.

A man of unwavering faith, Jerry lived by the Bible and was known for his compassion and willingness to help others. Throughout his life, he saved or supported countless people through his actions and presence.

He had a deep love for history, movies, farming, trivia, and keeping up with current events. He was also a passionate gun enthusiast and proud of his marksmanship.

Jerry held a special fondness for his neighbors at Lake Quitman, who became like extended family over the years. Their friendship and camaraderie meant the world to him.

Jerry will be remembered for his strength, integrity, sharp mind, and generous spirit. He left a meaningful mark on everyone who knew him.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Edna Brown.

He is survived by his loving wife, Veneche Brown of Quitman; son, Nathan C. Brown of Quitman; stepson and his family, Jonathan J Harps and wife Kelsie, and their daughter Juniper; and his brother, Joe Allen Brown.

Anyone wishing to pay their respects is welcome to do so at Lowe-Gardner Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery with military honors in recognition of his faithful service to his country.
