Janet Elizabeth Turner passed away on March 26, 2026 in Quitman. She was born on March 19, 1954, in Lamesa, Texas, to Johnny and Ophelia Camp.

Janet grew up in Athens, Texas, where she graduated high school and formed the roots of the values she carried throughout her life. On June 16, 1997, she married the love of her life, David Turner, in Troup, Texas, beginning a partnership marked by devotion, adventure, and deep companionship.

Her life took her across the United States—through West Texas, Arkansas, and the wide-open beauty of Wyoming—but Texas was always home. Janet had a natural gift for caring for animals. Her greatest joy came from her family, especially her cherished granddaughter, who lovingly called her “Nana.”

She was preceded in death by her parents Johnny and Ophelia Camp.

She is survived by her husband of 29 years, David Turner of Quitman; her son, Brennan Cross; her sister, Donna Perry; her brother, Michael Camp; her granddaughter, Rainee and other family and friends who will miss her.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 4, 2026 at the Turner Residence (381 County Road 3114, Quitman, TX 75783).
