Jamie Rhea (Nolen) Phillips, age 81, laid this world to rest and joined her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 27, 2020, at her home in Yantis, Texas. She was born on Aug. 7, 1938, in Greenville, TX to Gurrie B. and Marie Nolen.

In 1956, she married Jimmy Phillips of Reilly Springs, TX and they remaind married for 47 years.

Jamie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother to her family.  Growing up, she was a passionate athlete and forward for the Yantis Lady Owls Basketball team. An avid and plus level square dancer, she and her husband Jimmy travelled the nation with Ezelle’s Rounders, making memories and meeting other clubs. Jamie enjoyed advanced cross stitching, crossword puzzles, Tetris and solitaire as hobbies, as well as faithfully attending the many academic and athletic events of her children and grandchildren.

Jamie was a passionate follower of Jesus Christ, with letter membership in Baptist Churches of Texas throughout her lifetime.  Most recently, her membership resided with White Oak Baptist Church in Yantis, TX, where she remained for over two decades, participating as a member of the choir and serving on church committees.  She loved the Lord Jesus with a great passion, praying for those around her and meeting the needs of her family and friends wherever required.

Affectionately known by her family as “Memom,” Jamie is survived by her children, daughter - Jana (Phillips) Morgan and husband Mike Morgan of Yantis, (son) Jeff Phillips and wife Lori Buckingham of Aubrey, TX, and (son) Jay Phillips and wife Lisa Phillips of Yantis, TX; grandchildren, Phillip Morgan of Waxahachie, TX, Candice Gordon of Lewisville, TX, and Jimmie Phillips of Mesquite, TX; as well as two great-granddaughters, Winter Rose Gordon and Stella Maxx Morgan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a great granddaughter, Julia Claire Morgan, as well as many classmates and friends that she held so dearly in her lifetime.

The family would like to thank her caregivers, as well as members of the White Oak Baptist Church for their countless prayers and comforts in the past three decades. They would also like to thank the workers of Legacy Hospice.

While there will be no formal visitation hours with the family due to restrictions on gatherings, Jamie will lay in state for family and friends from 11:00 AM until 6 PM Monday, March 30, in the chapel of Lowe Funeral Home in Quitman, TX. for those who would like the opportunity to view and sign the guest register.

A private graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2020, at 2:00pm in the Yantis Cemetery in Yantis, TX.

Flowers may be sent to Lowes Funeral Home, or, the family also encourages you to bring flowers, at your own appointed time, to place at her graveside in the Yantis Cemetery when you are able to stop and share a memory of her.
