James Donald Dobbs, a dedicated husband, loving father, and esteemed member of the community, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2023, at the age of 81. Born on June 6, 1942, in Pine Mills, Texas, James lived a fulfilling life filled with love, service, and accomplishment.

James was the beloved husband of Nita (Weems) Dobbs, sharing over 61 years of marriage together. Their journey began on November 18, 1961, when they exchanged vows at Forrest Hill Baptist Church, surrounded by loved ones. Their unwavering love and commitment served as an inspiration to all who knew them.

Professionally, James had a successful career in medical sales, serving the communities of Texas and Mississippi. He dedicated his time and efforts to providing important medical resources to those in need, making a positive impact within the healthcare industry.

Aside from his professional achievements, James was an active member of his community and a faithful Christian. He was a proud member of Holly Brook Baptist Church in Hawkins, Texas. James's commitment to serving others led him to serve as a Deacon at the Holly Brook Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Quitman, where he played a crucial role in building a strong spiritual foundation for the congregation. He also selflessly shared his faith by teaching Sunday School, spreading the word of God  to others and nurturing the spiritual growth of those around him.

Outside of his professional and religious endeavors, James cherished quality time spent with his family.  He was a man of many interests and passions, including football, fishing, and had a special love for golf. He spent countless hours on the golf course perfecting his swing and enjoying the sport.

But his greatest joy was gathering his beloved family and spending time with them.  He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren showcase their talents and, in turn, entertaining them with his incredible sense of humor.

James greets in Heaven, his loving parents, Donald and Geraldine (Williams) Dobbs.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 61 years, Nita Dobbs; three children, David Dobbs and wife Michelle of Quitman, Debbie Davis and husband Richard of Flint, and Darren Dobbs and wife Mindy of Allen; two brothers, Bobby Dobbs and wife Denise of Winnsboro, and Danny Dobbs and wife Dawn of Tyler; eight grandchildren, Mandi Barron and husband Nathan, Austin Dobbs, Abby Dobbs, Brooke Davis, Luke Davis, Julia Dobbs, Caroline Dobbs, and Rachel Dobbs; and great-granddaughter, Blythe James Barron.
