Services honoring the life of James Monty Clayton, age 61, of Quitman, will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at 1:00 PM in the Lowe-Gardner Chapel, 1102 E Goode St, Quitman, TX 75783 with Brother Fred Morrow officiating.

James was born in Sulphur Springs to James Marion Clayton and Vera Mae Carroll Clayton on May 24, 1963. He attended school in Justin but would spend every moment he could in the Quitman community. Promptly upon graduation and his 18^th birthday, James made Quitman his permanent home.

James enjoyed a career in the commercial trucking industry for many years, always insisting on the shiniest truck in the fleet. He enjoyed the many years he spent riding his Harley Davidson and in more recent years, became slightly obsessed with reality TV! James married his beautiful wife, Andrea Renee Webb on June 15, 1995, in Wood County, and together they raised their two children in Quitman.

Surviving family includes his wife Andrea, a son, Jason Clayton of Bonham, Texas; a daughter, Tami Clayton, and son in law Timothy Layland of Leicester, New York; a sister, Jennifer Clayton of Quitman, Texas along with many other relatives and friends. James was preceded in death by his parents.

The family suggests memorial contributions in memory of James be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
