James Author Burge Sr.

James Author Burge, born on Saturday, Dec. 17, 1953, to Mary and J.H. Burge Sr. in Mineola, Texas. He passed away on December 26, 2025. He had lived his whole life in Mineola. He met the love of his life, Karen Jones at the age of 24 in Mineola. They married on May 6, 1976.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, his siblings, Delphia Shubert, J.Н. Burge Jr, and Shirley Ballew. His children Jonathan Burge, and Jennifer Stall, (son in law) Freddy Crabtree Sr. and multiple nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Karen Burge. Their children, James Stall, Terrie Carter, Wendy Burge, Kristy Land (Brandon Skinner), (J.J) James Burge Jr., Theresa Jacobs (Mark) and 35 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. Also, one sister, Elsie Shubert and a multitude of nieces and nephews. James is also survived by his sister-in-law, Sandy Robinson (Randall), and brother-in-law, Eddie Cagle.

James can be remembered as an avid hunter and fisherman spending most of his younger years at the river or in the woods. He worked at the Mineola Icehouse and Mineola packing Company. He also hauled pulpwood (puck wood) with Jimmy Jones and worked at Dodson's Auto glass and seat cover shop.

Most would say James was a man of few words, but he would give you the shirt off his back. You didn't want to piss him off because he was not one to back down but when he loved he loved with all he had. His children say he loved them but his love for his grandchildren and great grandchildren was so much stronger!! He was a hard worker who loved taking care of his chickens and rabbits.

James a man of few words but a heart bigger than anything else. He can be remembered for taking care of his family and everyone else. As we all know this will not be goodbye but see you later!
