Ila Ruth Wright, age 86, passed away the early morning hours of February 26, 2022 at her home in Quitman.

Funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 pm Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Myrtle Springs Baptist Church with Pastor Cody Mize and Pastor Fred Morrow officiating. She will be laid to rest following the service at Myrtle Springs Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Friday evening, March 4th, at Lowe-Gardner Funerals & Cremations.

Ruth Wright was born on June 26, 1935 in Lufkin, Texas to George Daniel Watson and Verna Thurman Watson.  Ruth lived in East Texas most of her life.  She met the love of her life, Cline Wright. They married on December 11, 1953.  The couple lived in the Dallas Metroplex for many years before moving to Quitman in 1981.  In 1969, she graduated nursing school.  She worked in the medical field for over 20 years before retiring.  She later worked several years at Jones Water.  Ruth was a member of Myrtle Springs Baptist Church and the Order of the Easter Star Quitman Chapter #695. She has been an active member of the Women’s Business Association and participated in Relay for Life for many years.

Ruth enjoyed many hobbies including reading and tending to her plants.  She had a green thumb and could keep any plant alive, including one she has kept in the same planter for 40 years. She enjoyed traveling with Cline to his Naval reunions, to horse shows, and going on trail rides.  She loved her family dearly and especially loved visits from her great grandchildren.  She never failed to send cards for every occasion to her family and friends, and never missed an opportunity to donate to charities in memory of loved ones who passed.

Ruth will be deeply missed by all who knew her and the hole left by her absence will be an impossible one to fill.

She greets in Heaven her parents, George Daniel and Verna Watson; loving husband, Cline Wright; infant son, William David Wright; and grandson, Michael Jason Wright.

Left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Danny Wright his wife Lori of Combine, Brian Wright his wife Donna of Quitman; three grandchildren, Jeri Groblebe her husband Sean of Seagoville, Alan Wright and Tabitha Buis of Little Elm, and Eric Wright his wife Lanee’ of Dallas; 10 great grandchildren; her very special niece, Lynda Bennett; a host of friends and extended family members who will miss her dearly.

Serving as pallbearers are Alan Wright, Eric Wright, Sean Groblebe, Kevin Wright, Kenneth Wright, and Bobby Herring.
