H.L. Henry

H.L. was born in Scroggins on October 8, 1931 to the late William Marvin Henry and Mary Alice McCown Henry. 

He worked as a pipefitter/welder for many years, even working overseas in Iran. He was a member of Clearwater Baptist Church and served on the board of directors for Clearwater Cemetery for decades. H.L. was a US Army Veteran, serving his country proudly during the Korean War Era. He was married to the love of his life, Jewell Ann Henry, for 58 wonderful years until her passing in September of 2016. H.L. was known as Pawpaw by his 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. When Pawpaw wasn’t spending time with his family, he could be found playing bingo or dominos, and always enjoyed a good plate of catfish. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Mary Alice Henry; sister Wanda Jean “Billie” Cook; brother, Doug Henry; and his wife, Ann Henry. 

He is survived by his two sons, John Marvin Henry and wife Tammy A. of Winnsboro, and R. Sam Henry and wife Tammy B. of Winnsboro; grandchildren, Candice, Alex, Britton, Hannah, and Carson; great-grandchildren Ady, Shiplee, Jad, Kylee, Kinslee, Zane, and Camilla; sister, Sarah Simons; and brother, Jerry Don Henry.  

Funeral service for H.L. Henry is scheduled for 10:00 AM Saturday, July 8, 2023 at Clearwater Baptist Church.  Graveside service will follow at Clearwater Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Friday evening, July 7th, at Clearwater Baptist Church.  

Serving as pallbearers are Carson Turner, Carlos Torres, Joe Don Henry, Jimmy Lamar, Brenden Greer, & Sam Young. Honorary pallbearers are Alex Henry, Jad Valenzuela, And Zane Turner.
