Ray was a Saw Mill operator, also a musician/guitar player. He is preceded in death by his father Horace Ray Dunn, Sr.

Ray is survived by his mother, Marie Eudy, Cartwright; wife, Pam Pipkin Dunn, Quitman; 2 sons, Thomas Dunn, Coppell, Horace Ray Dunn III, Quitman; 2 daughters, Brieann Dunn, Coppell and Amber Dunn; 3 sisters, Edna McCrary, Scroggins, Fannie Moore, Winnsboro and Terrie Silva, Mineola. He also was blessed with 5 grandchildren.
